Yoga: The Crossfit of Stretching

Champlain Valley Crossfit is introducing Yoga, a 4 week program every Tuesday, for those of you who want to increase performance, mobility and clarity.  Some of you will read this and say, “Cool” while others will say, “Meh, not for me,” but wait!!

What you might be thinking:

“I don’t think I’d do well in a yoga class.”
“Yoga sounds like too much work.”
“Yoga is for girls. It’s not a guy thing.”
“I don’t need yoga in my life to recover.  So what if I can’t reach behind my back to get that itch, or bend down to tie my shoes, or catch a clean in a perfect front squat?”

Now…. let’s replace some of those words.
” I don’t think I’d do well in CrossFit.”
“CrossFit is too much work.”
“CrossFit is for guys who are already strong. It’s not a girl thing.”
“I don’t need CrossFit to be stronger or faster. I’m fine as is. So what if I can’t pick up a 40 pound bag of dog food or jog out to my mailbox and back?”
If you had a friend who said those things about CrossFit, you’d do all that you could to prove them wrong, correct?  Well, that’s what we’re doing here, right now to you.
Consider this your intervention.
Champlain Valley Crossfit Yoga is complimentary – no cost to you. Why? Because we believe that yoga improves your body awareness, strength, flexibility and reinforces proper movement patterns.  Berne Broudy will be leading our Crossfit Yoga classes.  The movements are based on Astanga yoga’s primary series, which is designed to realign the muscular and skeletal systems. Berne taught Astanga yoga and yoga for skiers and riders at Yoga Vermont for over 5 years. She is an avid cyclist, skier, climber and Crossfitter and a former competitive swimmer. She says, “Yoga is an excellent tool for athletes–it makes the muscles long and supple, balanced and elastic which is the best way to avoid injury. And we’re gonna have fun. You don’t have to be good at yoga—it’s a tool to keep you active longer.”
Start Date: Tuesday May 15th
Time:  5:30pm
Please bring your own yoga mat!
