Champlain Valley CrossFit: Saturday, September 4th 2010

Some heavy pressing, and what turned out to be a very tough combination of rowing and running was breakfast for everyone this Saturday. A lot of people are traveling this weekend and we had a few other CrossFitter’s from out of town stop by…great work Erica, Matt, and Kevin. Have a great labor day weekend everybody.  Run, row, and repeat a bunch of times…deceivingly hard. – Jade

Champlain Valley CrossFit: Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Another awesome day today. We had a good crew in the gym throughout the day. Hit up a little benchmark action, in what turned out to be, as most expected, a bit of a death march in “Kelly.” Awesome workout, all worked incredibly hard, and it was great to see everyone cheering each other on. Ken showed some true heart pushing to the limit on his last wall balls. Another day awaits tomorrow. Cheers. First round banging out some box jumps Nearing the end, everyone enjoying the wall balls – Jade

Champlain Valley CrossFit: Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Grand “opening” today. We’ve had some people in and out training the last 10 days or so, but today was our first day that we were running a class schedule. We had at least 1 person show up to every class, that’s 6 classes, we are so psyched. 23!!! people in the door today, most had already signed up but a few new folks came in to sign up as well. We couldn’t be happier. Everyone worked their tails of today, and got a taste for one of the benchmark “girl” WODs. Wow that was a lot of pull-ups. I’m looking forward to a ton of solid training with you all, and am so happy to see our awesome community continue to grow. Thank you all so much for the support. I’ll see you tomorrow. Cheers. The 5:45 PM crew busting ass. Kips…

Open gym has been well attended and this afternoon was no exception. People warmed up at their own pace then selected a skill to work on for 20 minutes. This skill was off the Work Your Weakness board. There are CrossFit skills we like, and the things we don’t. It’s usually the things we don’t like that we avoid, consequently what we need to practice the most. My nemesis is pull-ups. Ken picked hand-stand holds and got a taste of hand-stand pushups. Others rowed, jumped rope, and practiced their squat cleans. The met-con was intervals of 30 seconds of work and 1 min of rest incorporating pull-ups, squat cleans and burpees, counting total reps at the end of 3 rounds. Good work everyone! Classes begin Wednesday on our official opening date – September 1st! Check this site for class times, on-ramp schedule, and…
