We hope everyone is having a fabulous day and enjoying that beautiful sunshine despite the chilly weather. We wanted to get a few notes, updates, etc. out to everyone with the Holiday’s fast approaching and a New Year coming to us. So here we go…

Covid & the Holidays

Unfortunately we have to put this at the top of the list. With the Holiday’s coming we want to just send a friendly reminder about the Covid guidelines/protocols we’ve asked people to follow to help ensure us the best possibility of staying open. It seems our state as a whole did a great job over Thanksgiving, as I believe at this point in time, no large outbreaks have been traced back to large Thanksgiving gatherings, and as a State we haven’t seen a large increase in cases the last 7 days. We would greatly appreciate if you are traveling, getting together with multiple households, that you take the proper steps to help ensure that we continue to stay open and function as a business. We greatly appreciate any and all sacrifices you may have to make, and I know all of your fellow athletes in our community appreciate everyone taking the proper steps so we all continue to have a place to exercise, socialize, and stimulate a healthy physical and mental state.

Facebook & the Community

During the initial Covid quarantine we saw our Facebook group as a great tool, resource, and place for interaction, we have let that slide over the last 4-5 months, but will be making a renewed effort to get interaction in this group. While many have mixed feelings about Facebook, we believe it’s a great tool for what it was originally intended, keeping in touch with people you actually know, sharing about your personal triumphs and tribulations, and ultimately helping to build a community and find connection.

In the early days of CrossFit, while Facebook was new and not used in this capacity, the idea of a community and message board was what helped drive CrossFit, in this case, not so much a local community connection, but a nation/worldwide one. Each day a workout was posted and individuals from around the country and world would post their results. Starting one of the initial actions that helped build a community, drive some friendly competition, and turn millions of people into healthier, stronger, happier human beings, and of course avid CrossFitters.

This is something we’d like to bring back for those exact reasons. Building connection with our community, giving you a little something to chase by providing that connection to some friendly competitiveness in the gym (remember you don’t have to be an elite athlete to be competitive, being competitive is all about just trying to be better than you were yesterday, and seeing that happen right next to you whether an individual is behind you in their capacities, or way ahead, there is often no better way to spark the drive to be better), and sharing your successes and failures, showing everyone that it happens to all of us. Not every day is a good day, and not every one is a bad day.

Moving forward you’ll see one of the respective blog workouts posted each day, we’d love to see as many of you as possible hop on board, maybe just congratulate someone on a PR, post what you did, whether it was taking class and following the programming to a “T” or sitting at home in your basement doing 1,000+ curls for the deep burn!

In addition you will start seeing 1 post from each of our full-time coaches each week. This post will be information that we’ve recently taken in that we feel some of you might like. May be an article, a movement demo, podcast, training motivation, etc.

This Facebook group is private and can be found HERE if you haven’t already joined.

The Open Is Coming

Yesterday the framework was released for what this coming years CrossFit Open and competitive CrossFit season will look like. We’re super excited, and coming to this with renewed invigoration to bring this back and have an awesome time with it. While Covid will play a role in this, and finite details likely won’t be in place until just before it starts we will plan on hosting the Open in an intramural team format as we did last year on Saturday mornings.

We encourage you to read about the new structure of the Open at the link below, as it looks like many may have the opportunity to qualify into the second stage of the competition given our deep pool of great athletes. You can read about the Open changes HERE and if you’re new to CrossFit check out the video below to get an idea about what the Open is.

 Softgoods

We ended up ordering the 3/4 Baseball T’s, but unfortunately there was not enough interest for the other two garments. These will be in, well we don’t know when, hopefully before the end of the year, but as we’ve seen, and you probably have also, everything is slowed down in terms of transit times these days.

Accountability Challenge

While everyone is in vastly different situations, we know the last 9 months have been difficult for all of us, so, with that in mind, we wanted to do a little challenge to start the year in a super leisurely way. There won’t be any sign-up, there won’t be any tracking, there won’t be any cost, it’ll just be you committing to and being accountable to something that will help improve your health. We’ll kick off January 4th, and go for 30 days. There will be a “sign-up” basically an input of what you are holding yourself accountable to so everyone can see, and, hold themselves and one another accountable. This could be anything from something more serious, like following a certain eating protocol for 30 days, or it could be as simple as writing down 5 things you’re grateful for everyday. It’s completely up to you, it just has to be something that will help improve your physical/mental health.

Holiday Schedule

Lastly our Holiday Schedule…

  • Thursday, December 24th – Noon will be the last class of the day. NO evening classes
  • Friday, December 25th – Closed
  • Thursday, December 31st – Noon will be the last class of the day. NO evening classes
  • Friday, January 1st – Closed

That’s it for the moment. Thank you all so much for your continued support, your continued efforts of self improvement, and your continued mindset of doing what you can for our community anf focusing on the big picture. If we don’t see you in the gym tonight or tomorrow, have a fabulous weekend and we’ll see you Monday.
