Coaching Changes

To start the New Year and new decade, as you all know we’ve made some shifts and changes to our programming structure. In addition you’ll all see some coaching/staff changes around the gym over the coming months. As we continue to evolve and change we are also hoping to be able to create some more permanent, career positions for another coach or two. Part of doing this means we will be starting to consolidate our staff. Have no fear, you’ll I’m sure see all the coaches in here, but you might find yourself training with them more often than being coached by them. As January already comes to an end, this Wednesday will mark Betsy’s last night on the coaching schedule. Many of you know Betsy, and some of you may not dependent on when you come to class but she has been…

Comp Programming Direction and Schedule

Many within our gym have been asking about our Comp Programming, where it’s going and what it will be. For the last however many years we’ve been writing programming geared towards the competitive athlete and we’ve pretty much written it as a year round, broad and inclusive training program. What we mean by this, is that the programming hasn’t really been written with a specific emphasis on competitions, peaking, etc. etc. There has always been a slight change and emphasis towards the Open as that has approached, but otherwise we haven’t written the programming in mind of anything specific in terms of events. It has always been kind of a year round train hard, and as individual athletes the expectation has been that you all as individuals will back-off as needed based on your personal schedules, life, events, etc. Going forward that will…

1st Annual CVCF Team Intramural Open

In this past year we’ve seen quite the shake-up in the competitive CrossFit world. With everything changing and very little direction given to us by CrossFit HQ, we opted to sit out the Open this past winter, as it seemed like the right time to take a break from it to see where things would go. Over the last 9 months more and more developments have happened on the competitive side of the CrossFit scene and there is a much clearer direction and layout of how everything is going to run now. Over the last 9 years of business we saw our Open participation start with some 10 members the first year, peak to around 150 in 2013/2014 and trickle down to around 50 in 2018. This has happened for a number of reasons, a large reason was from us as gym owners,…

Programming Update

When we make a shift in the programming we always try and let you all know. While none of these changes are drastic we just wanted to give you a little heads up on some changes to the programming for the next 8-12 weeks. Monday This is where we will see our most drastic change in the programming. Yes, we’re still squatting on Monday’s, but we’re going to be working into something very different. Our change to Monday’s is a jump to something we’ve never truly focused on in our daily classes. We’ve done this type of work in our competition programming, but have shied away from doing it in our daily classes as it’s a little more complicated and requires a bit more organization. We’re confident that we and all of you can make this work and get a fantastic stimulus in…

News @ CVCF – Softgoods, Qualifiers and More…

Wow, just like that we’re just over the half way point of summer and getting ready to gear up for the fall. We’ve got a handful of things going on at CVCF that we want to make sure you guys are all aware of, and of course would love to see you all participate in if you’re interested. Soft-goods First up, while a little late, we wanted to make sure we got some new soft-goods out, specifically some tank tops. Hopefully we’ll have a great fall and they’ll get use through the fall, and if not, you can always rock your tank on Tank Top Tuesday anytime of year. Since moving to Push Press last year we haven’t yet made use of the pre-sale feature but we will be using this heavily going forward to help us make sure everyone gets what they…
